I cleaned the spark plugs and air filter in my car today and his performance so far … whats wrong?
has a 98 Mustang 3.8L V6 and I decided today to clean my air filter and spark plugs … so I removed the air intake to get to the spark plugs and cleaned with sandpaper and an indicator used to measure to 42 and were in 60 …. owners manual said it should be in 42 …… anyway while I was at it I decided to clean the air filter because I had the intake off …. i a hose down and let dry almost completely before putting it back i. now Im burning smell of gas my car is moving and the car seems to be a bug in it and its sorta do put noise of the exhaust and the engine,,, any idea what the hell I went wrong? (BTW it seems that the lag throttle response is right along with acceleration)
OK, well, for starters, the gap of the spark plug for your car is 052 -. 056, 042, no. That could certainly cause some problems. And sandpaper is not a very effective method to clean them. A sandstorm is really the only way worth the effort. In addition, paper air filters are not really intended to be washed. Shaking, slapping, using compressed air to blow back are fine. The water will close the pores, and I mean, when still damp. I mean for good. So, assuming that is what you have, the kind that comes with the car, you're going to have to replace it. No way to fix that.
