Let's break down ….. If it is green and long term (very big anyway) and the miles is the name of the city. My reality is pronounced-ler. This little place is about 1.5 hours drive from Kunming in the area of the stone forest. Honghe Cigarette Factory is here, and certainly owns and operates the very existence of this city. Amid nothing is the ultra modern buildings, A 495-acre man made lake full of ecological reserves spring clean clear water. His work is a showcase Huque Resort and Spa just in the heart of this reserve. Lagoons, sand beachfront, natural hot springs, and water activities show the complex. The complex is "established" in the water so your room is as though you are practically living on the lake. This 5 star resort is about as lavish as it gets. The hotel is divided in 3 sections, each with a slightly different architecture. We sat in section B which is the average price area and liked it even better than one section. Our Room with breakfast buffet is $ 40 per night. You could not touch a place like this anywhere else for under $ 300. Check out the photos for yourself. I left shocked when I woke before dawn and sat on my balcony overlooking the mountain. As the sun was rising, the moon was setting over the mountains. I felt I could reach out and touch! Talk about the perfect getaway for freeing the mind and body readjusted! This is one of those "have to be a kind of local Kunming" to know this place still exists. In retrospect, I should probably keep a secret.
3/14/09 update ……..
I just returned from Mile (other time) and this time stayed in the building "A". Helen mom and dad invited us to enjoy time with them to show their appreciation to us for shipping Helen our help to the U.S.. She will travel to the U.S. next week to attend college. Not allow us to pay for anything! I will not forget the wonderful time we had, nor how they were kind to us. I'm finding many friends who live in this wonderful country.
We stayed in building "A" which is the VIP section of this complex. Every detail of this complex is first class. There are very few places where you can say that nothing can be improved. This is definitely one of them. No doubt we'll be making this one of our regular meeting places.
Update 5/21/09
I just returned from Mile again. This time I learned that the Yunnan Red Winery is located about 15 km south of the Mile. This is a must do, while Mile. Very interesting and takes place almost all to yourself. Me met the marketing manager and his wife there. We spent several hours visiting with them and drink plenty of delicious wines. Some that are not available, except in the cellar. Finished 1000 RMB buying wine and stumbled back to my beautiful room in the complex. As an aside, the room rates are rising, which is not surprise. My room in section B is now 340 RMB 270 RMB above. However, a bargin.
