NEW YORK, Jan. 4 / PRNewswire / – Having been tested and 1339 clubs and balls in the last year, Golf Digest is set to unveil the results its third annual "Hot List – a guide to the hottest golf equipment in the game. The list Hot will appear in the magazine February 2006 (on newsstands January 10) with the profiles of the 130 most exciting products market.

The Golf Digest Hot list was compiled by the team at Golf Digest Publications' editors teams Golf Digest, Golf World, Golf and Golf World Business For Women – the largest collection of industry journalists dedicated to covering the teams. In addition, Frank Thomas, director of Golf Digest Technical Advisor and former Technical Director of the U.S. Golf Association, served as non-voting member of the judging panel. Overall, the group has over 80 years experience covering the equipment industry.

Golf Digest also enlisted various panels to assist in the evaluation process, which included 10 days of the summit. The Academic Advisory Group includes leading scientists in the fields of sports and mechanical engineering at Stanford, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of Michigan, among others. The Steering Group consists of four groups, including top amateur players across the country, golf retailers of experts, professionals in higher education and for the first time, a group of players from handicap means. The aim of these groups was to promote understanding of the judges each product technology, marketing, performance and playability.

The criteria that comprised the 2006 Hot List is detailed below. Voting is based on a scale of 100 points.

Buzz Factor (15 percent): the product must be in demand. The magazine
looked at market share, the use tourist and customer satisfaction as well as
retail reaction to new products.

* Performance / Gameplay (25 percent): With the contribution of its expert panels and
other sources, the magazine considered two main questions: Does the
work product of a unique and meaningful? Is the technology declared
has an essentially practical application?

* Technology / Innovation (30 percent): Based on interviews with the company
and study of its technical documents and discussion with the
Academic Panel, the magazine tries to answer these questions: Is the
innovation new or different? Make sense? To what extent the company
explain its technology?

* Preferably personnel (20 percent): Does the look, sound and generally
Presentation resonate with the individual judge's interpretation
what this specific product should be?

* Value (10 percent): What is making this product in conjunction with
price?

This years the criteria evaluation of the percentages were adjusted to put more emphasis on technology and innovation, and less weight on the Buzz Factor. Furthermore, while the choice an "Editors'" remains for each product category, the previous "Highly Recommended were eliminated" and "Recommended" distinctions.

The Hot List package includes additional sidebars that guide readers through the basics of buying equipment, resale and trade in the values of used clubs, and clubs that registered the most wins in the professional circuit.
