Hybrid vehicles are in a state of increasing demand, a response to fuel prices. When fuel economy and gas mileage are the desires of consumers at the time, all major automakers in the industry is the hybrid design field with varying degrees of success. From 2007, Nissan entered the field with a hybrid model of its popular Altima model, also offered in 2008 and 2009.
Unfortunately, the first drawback is also one of the largest, the Altima Hybrid is only available when writing this commentary in 8 countries, which maintain these requirements at the level of emissions in California. This means that people in states that do not have the vehicle would have to pay a premium large enough that the vehicle delivered to their location, if it is available to all. This unfortunately limits the customer base that might be interested in what is otherwise a great car.
Nissan has bought the rights to the Toyota Hybrid Synergy Drive, and then enhanced by one of its own engines and transmissions to change. The result is a car that handles and behaves better than the original strict management and a nice smooth acceleration. It achieves an impressive 35mpg on the highway and 33 in the city, more than 12 liters per mile improvement over the Altima regular. For interested in hybrids as the performance of the Nissan Altima Hybrid is an excellent choice.
