Which TaylorMade Driver to buy?
I’m stuck between Taylormade drivers.
I want one that will mainly hit it straight when playing a casual round of golf.
Im a mid-low handicapper (10).
It’s either one of the top of the range r7s, 2010 Burner or pretty much any r9.
If you’re in it for the “casual” aspect, maybe stay away from the r9. Some people overthink the adjustability aspect of it, and screw themselves up in the process. It also has a smaller clubhead (430ish cc) than the others listed, so you’ll have a harder time hitting it straight if you aren’t catching the sweet spot often enough.
I always say to go to a fitter and have him/her help get you into a club that’s going to work best for you. But if I HAVE to say which one is “best” (which I loathe) for you, it sounds like, of the three, the Burner… the bigger head and higher MOI will give you more forgiveness when you don’t make perfect contact. You should still go to a fitter- the Burner comes with a shaft that’s 1.5″ longer than standard- you’ll hit it farther (but not as far as they’d lead you to believe) while giving up some accuracy. Get it to around 45″, and you should be OK.
