Very pregnant rat not nesting?
She started showing big time 3 days ago, her little belly is giant. She practically looks like she swallowed a golf ball and her nipples are very prominent compared to my other ratties, so I’m certain she’s came down with a case of the accidental preggo’s due to the fact I got her from a pet store and they’re usually not too worried about mixed sex cages. The thing is, she’s HUGE and not nesting yet. Not even a little, she has gotten a little temperamental though.
I’m just wondering if it’s not uncommon for a rat to nest until maybe she has the kittens?
I had another accidental litter awhile back and Mama rat was going crazy building nests, so just wondering 
well my rat Tilly just had a litter about a month ago. Another case of accidental pregnancy.
and she didnt nest until a day before she gave birth. i was actually getting worried bcoz i started to doubt that she was pregnant and that there must be another horrible reason why her belly was so massive! but its perfectly normal dont worry!
even after the birth, Tilly’s idea of a nest wasnt exactly what I would call one lol She actually had the babies on the plastic bottom of the cage, and then bedding around them. With a paper wall so i couldnt look in (she obviously wanted privacy!) This wasnt the best thing to do because of course once she got off the nest, the babies got cold very quickly. I kept putting bedding (i tried, paper, fleece, everything!) under the babies but she just kept tipping them off it. She only got the message once the babies got fur and were better at regulating their temperature (typical! 
) i ended up putting a hot water bottle under the cage so they got some warmth off that lol
anyway, i wouldnt worry, its really normal. Also, you said you just got her from a pet shop, can i presume she a young’un then? Because if so, this could be why she hasnt quite got to grips with what she has to do yet – but once she has the bubs, it will all come naturally to her im sure
