How much does Hawaii REALLY?
We're going to honeymoon in Hawaii, 19 April-4 May, divided equally between Oahu (Honolulu), Maui, and the Big Island. What is the most expensive island? Is it expensive to eat only in restaurants moderate level? What's out places, and supermarkets? What memories and such? I do my research on the activities, tours, luaus, golf and spa, and we have reserved some expensive meals (that's our honeymoon, after all) but I wonder how much of the day to day would be. Thank you!
First, is the cost to reach and move. And that depends on where come. At this point, you can get round trip tickets from San Diego to Honolulu for about $ 550 or less per person. And interisland flights range from about $ 60 to $ 90 per person per flight, depending on what time flies (in the middle of the day is more expensive). A rental car will cost about $ 250 a week, more if you to do on a daily basis (only get the weekly rate for 5 days or more). Figure about $ 150 – $ 200 a night at least for a hotel room. More if you get a suite or apartment rental. A 1-decent one-bedroom condo in Maui, for example, can run about $ 250 – $ 300 per night. More in the large resorts. Moderately priced meals that vary depending on where it was. If this is a burger place or something, maybe you're looking at about $ 10 per person. If it is a seated restaurant, maybe more like $ 15 – $ 20 at least per person, excluding drinks. A good restaurant will set you back $ 30 to $ 40 or more per person. And you'll probably want snacks, drinks, etc. through the day. Figure foods that will be about 1-1/2 to 2 times the price on the continent. So even if you're in a condo and taking some of your own meals, is more expensive than at home. Souvenirs, do not know. I did not buy. For activities, contained a luau or a sunset cruise will be about $ 75 per person. A snorkel cruise on a boat will cost about $ 125 and a dive trip will be more like $ 175 per person. My wife and I went to Maui in February and stayed at the timeshare in Kahana, north of Lahaina. We bought most of our food and beverages in the supermarket (shop or expensive restaurants) and took a couple of boat trips (sunset cruise and snorkeling cruise). Otherwise, mostly were hiking in Kapalua and Perouse Bay. I think not – have accommodations, airfare and car rentals – probably spent about $ 1200 during the week. If we have paid the fees for the condominium market, which would have been $ 1500. Air fare for the round trip was about $ 1600 (bought nonrefundable tickets when prices were high due to fuel costs). And the rental car was $ 400 (rates went up because there were two ships druise in town). Thus, whole trip was about $ 4700 for the week.
