Has anyone lived in a compound in Saudi Arabia recently?
My husband has to go to Saudi for work and that we live in the Arizona Golf Resort. I have a lot of questions about Saudi Arabia. Can anyone help me or give me some advice? Do the doctors of the compounds?
No I have lived in Arabia for the past few years, but when I was there, I visited the complex in Arizona and was quite surprised. It was definitely a large scale. No doubt you have a resident physician or medical center as well as swimming pools, grocery stores, etc. She comes with a driver or at least access to one, so going to markets Tamimi (formerly Safeway) for a good selection of food. You probably have a daily bus purchases for women. Check out Dira souk souk in Kuwait. The purchase is HUGE! Gold is cheap. Do not be afraid to bargain – start at half the quoted price and sad look and walk if they do not like the price the "last". There are great restaurants – especially around Olaya Street. Ask about the hotels that cater to Thursday morning / afternoon buffets. Contact the ACS (American Community Services – Embassy can provide you with the number). When you and your husband start getting overwhelmed by the constant beige landscape, a trip to Bahrain (three hours) and stay at the Hotel del Golfo (best food in the world) and fly to Istanbul, Turkey (3 & 1 / 2 hour flight). If you do the latter, I'll give you a shopping list of things that I long for the souks and show you around Sultanahmet in return! Indeed, the women's section of the Dira best place to buy your first abaya. You might want to have someone to get one for you before you travel.
