Would this be a good desktop to play some games?

it depends on what the flight playing Sims. List of games you've simulator is one that needs powerful hardware. if he is playing Flight Simulator X then a 8800GT with 512 card that will be the road configuration. if he is happy to play flight sims more then the 8500 will do. Just So, Im not sure what you mean by "play game". if we are talking about 1 person shooters, it really depends on what you touch. if he wants recent shooters play, again the most powerful video card will be necessary. if he is happy to play more fps then the 8500 will. And in reality games, very few that are incompatible with Vista. the previous post is incorrect. The best we could do would be to the list of games he plays (and anyone else who would like put on the new machine) and then determine which GPU to get. the rest of the configuration of the machines is fine, but your graphics card that puts limits their options.
