golf swing plane angle

golf swing plane angle
golf question on iron play?

any pro out there that can give me any suggestion on how to my irons more consistant. i am not happy with my iron shots as i am with my woods. i play to a 10 hdcp. use to be a seven…but i am getting older, 64….it seems to me that in using my woods that i am on plane more and my swing speed is more even through the swing.
i don’t know if it is my angle of attack compared to the woods or my aggressness through the swing that is causing me to either push the ball right or smother it left. i hit about 30 balls every day during the golf season, and then pracitice my short game.
any suggestion would be appreciated

You should find little or no difference in the tempo of your swing from your woods to your irons. Your angle of attack will inevitably be different. You must, must, must get rid of any thoughts before or during your swing with your irons that you will hit the ball any less flush than you wish. Your target “strike point” with your irons should be the bottom front of the ball as you look at it. Your divot should always extend a few inches in front of your ball. The only swing thought I’ve had for the last five or ten years has been arms-legs-legs-arms. This is the sequence of body movement for all full swing golf shots. Arms pull the legs back, legs pull the arms through. I hope this helps.

Fairways and Greens.
