Golf courses and golf history – Murfield – The Honourable Edinburgh Scottish Golfers
The well-known, and the Muirfield golf course in Scotland had the venerable honor of being ranked among the great golf courses in the world – first in Golf Magazines "Top 100 Golf Courses in the World" in 1983 and served second and the fifth time in the same survey in 1987 and 1989. This while all the golf course, maintaining its lead as the number one golf Muirefeld Islands British. This group played at Leith Links (to the west of Edinburgh), who were the first used as a golf course in 1593.
Historical records of the place Golfers of Leith Knight has been formally recognized by the City of Edinburgh Mars in July 1744, which presented the group with a golf club money for an annual golf contest. With this official recognition, the Gentleman Golfers compile a list of 13 rules golf and began maintaining what has become the oldest continuous record kept by the golf club in the world.
The list of rules established originally entitled "Articles and higher laws of Spain" became known to a code of Leith and became the first set of golf rules to write, was so reasonable and effective than the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews adopted when the organization was founded in 1754.
Gentleman Golfers were sometimes more later formalized as the Honorable Company of Edinburgh Golfers. In 1836, out of the five holes at Leith Links Links Mussenburgh east of Edinburgh. It seems that he Musselburgh was a golf course at least 1672.
It was at Musselburgh in 1873 that the Honor Company consented to an agreement – with the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews and Prestwyck Golf Club (which hosted the first Open Championship in 1860) – the staging of the Open Championship at Musselburgh, the Old Course St. Andrews and Perswyck, on an annual rotation.
A little over half a century after the Honorable Company had begun to play Musselburgh, migrated once again (taking their position in the Open with them) to Muirfield (further east of the Forth estuary), which distinguishes the company has developed for golf, and opened for play May 3, 1891.
Muirfield seaside location and picturesque surroundings, offering an aesthetic banquet second to none. It has been said that golf Muirfeld is as close to perfection as always prevailed upon the earth, sky, sea and golf skills.
