I class my childs father as her dad, but recently my friend pointed out he is just DNA/sperm donor, as my child has received 1 x 1st birthday card, a milkshake and a packet of mints a few months ago, and 10 visits in 12 yrs. and today when i said it to him he was shocked, why? i always refer to him as dad, but my daughter says do you mean mike or my father, why was he shocked, he has never been to any events/xmas/birthdays/school/never came when she was admitted to hospital by 999 ambulance/only ever sent her 1 card/never paid maintenance, all i have ever asked for was time and having another family/girlfriend/smoke/drink/golf always comes before her.
you are thinking of the difference between a father and a dad. any man can be a father but it takes a real man to be a dad. He is your typical male who fathered a child but a real man would have been a dad to her, doing all the things he didnt..
