I play high school golf…?
Okay, I’m a freshman and im the 6th man on our varsity team, which is favored, with one other school, to win the conference. All 6 of us play in the 30s regularly(in a 9 hole match obviously). But anyhow, it frustrates me playing in the 5/6 man group, because most of the 5/6 players from other schools don’t know, and don’t follow the rules. I choose not to say anything usually, but should I? I don’t want to be a jerk, but also I want to win, plus it frustrates me that I follow the rules as closely as I can and other guys shave 2-4 strokes a round b not following certain rules. Anyhow, should I say something to the opposing players during the match, or tell my coach afterwards?
the front of our home course is a par 33 so it isnt hard ti get in the 30s there..maybe i should have said that…the back is 39
At the intro, state you play by the rules and you expect your opponent to do so as well… Any questions from him and yourself should & will be brought to the respective coaches for rulings…. That should nail them down early, and give you a reputation as a straight-down-the-middle guy.
If you do see something out of line. Bring it to the attention of the player and say that they might be missinterpreting a rule, or ask them if they would like a copy of the rules to refer to. (carry a spare with you.)
