The amount of sun exposure is really needed to cause sunburn varies from person to person depending on skin type and color. His skin color is determined by the number, distribution, and type of pigment-producing cells (melanocytes) in the skin. Dermatologists refer to the amount of pigmentation in the skin by categorizing skin types, these types ranging from type 1 to type 6. It is these types that determine the ease with which burn in the sun, depending on the clarity or darkness of your skin is.
Type 1 skin is white to light brown, as I mentioned earlier of these guys right through Type 6, which is highly pigmented, dark brown to black and Type 5 is dark brown skin. Basically, the more exposure receiving UV radiation, the worse the sunburn becomes.
The reason why sunburn is not affecting people with darker skin is melanin that is present in the skin. Melanin is the pigment in the skin causing brown. This is because melanin absorbs UV rays, natural sunscreen is making your body. This not mean that for a second, however, should not also carry sunscreen. Melanin only stop the burning, to some extent, you still need protection comes with extra sunscreen.
The amount of melanin that is produced by your body is genetically determined and the phases of sunburn are actually your body's way of blocking UV rays to prevent burns and other skin lesions. However, even if you have dark skin, yet is highly recommended that protect your skin from the damage the sun can cause by applying sunscreen. Not only will it be to protect against sunburn but also maintain wrinkles at bay and reduce the risk of skin cancer. All these are valid reasons you should consider today.
