The State of Ohio or the Buckeye as it is called, is now reducing its tax rate. In 2005 the top rate of income tax was 7.185%. Now is 6.87%, with further reductions planned until 2009.
There are seven categories of income taxes. The first installment of 5000 tax paid on taxable income 0.681%. This percentage increases to 1.361% on income between $ 5001 and $ 10,000. This is 2.722% of taxable income is between $ 10,001 and $ 15,000, reaching 3.403% in income between $ 15,001 and $ 20,000. Income tax is between $ 20,001 and $ 40,000 is 4.083%. Between $ 40,001 and $ 80,000, is 4.764%. This is 5.444% on revenue between $ 80,001 and $ 100,000 and 6.32% on revenues of $ 100,001 and $ 200,000. The highest rate in more revenue from 200.001 dollars and over is 6.87%.
In addition to the national income tax is local income taxes levied by some municipalities in Ohio.
Income taxes to finance the system public education are seen by some school districts. The school district tax revenues are collected by employers. The employer maintains an amount based on the individual quarterly estimated payments and annual returns. These funds are targeted to support the school district.
The school district residents to implement an income tax must file an annual report on Form SD100 Ohio.
State sales tax is 5.5%. It has shrunk from its previous level 6%. Local taxes can be collected by counties and regional transport authorities. There is a maximum of 1.5% sales tax commuter. Local authorities can increase their sales taxes in increments of 0.25%. There a total limit of sales tax between the state, county and authorities transport 8.5%
Tangible personal property for residential, agricultural and commercial use is taxed. Taxes on business property is being phased out and eliminated in 2009. Local tax programs are administered by the Property Tax Administration Fund. The reduction 10% tax on commercial and industrial property was abolished in 2005. There is still a step backwards for agricultural and residential properties.
No tax real property or in Ohio. Federal tax law eliminated the tax credit for the obligations of the death of State from January 1, 2005. The property of persons who died on or after that date are not subject to tax.
Tax returns can be submitted online in Ohio. All tax returns state and local taxes can be filed that way. Ohio taxpayers can check the status of all your tax returns, including income district fees, on the line.
Tax returns must be filed before April 15 each year. It is the same as in other states. If this date falls on a Sunday or holiday, then they can be deposited the next day.
