AUTHENTIC Indian fry bread with red chili and beans?
I fried Indian bread with red chili and beans everytime i visit Phoenix, AZ in the house of bread fried (I used to live there), but now I want to do for my husband, does anyone have a recipe for this?
The Navajo and Pueblo Indian Fry Pan 4 servings 4 cups white flour 1 tablespoon baking powder 1 teaspoon salt 1 1 / 2 cups hot water 1 cup lard for frying (or your choice of oil) Directions: Mix dry ingredients. Add hot water to dry ingredients. Knead until dough is soft and elastic and not stick to bowl. (If necessary, add water a little warmer). Form the dough into balls the size of a small peach. Let these sit for 15 minutes. Pat a little, and then Pat edges outward pinch and back with his hand until the dough is about 1 / 2 to 3 / 4 inch thick and is round. Make a small hole in the middle of the round. Melt the butter in a skillet heavy. Carefully place the rounds in the hot grease, one at a time golden on both sides. Drain on paper towels. Serve hot. ———– Brown onions, garlic, red pepper and green and spices (chipotle seasoned salt, cumin, chili powder and fresh ground pepper). In the pot, add 1 chopped, fresh tomatoes, 1 can of tomato paste, 2 cans red beans and some cocoa and simmer for 2 hours.
