What is the technique that Rick Smith Jr. used to launch the cards so hard and with such precision that can cut the apples?
He uses his index finger and middle finger to keep the card and curves toward the inside of your wrist. When films of your wrist forward to relieve the card, is almost like a knuckle ball pitch in baseball. Below is a link that shows him giving a demonstration of Ripley. Furthermore, it has not hurt record launch baseballs fastest, so obviously embedded in the cards. Either way, it's pretty impressive!
