As a woman who has been scrapbooking for over 7 years, I have a nice collection of memories all preserved in several albums with pretty stories to go along with photos. I LOVE these albums … are a tangible piece of my past. But my husband … well, let's say if there was a possibility, we heat our house with some of them this winter!
My husband once asked me how much I spent on this. You know, I really have no idea, but probably in the $ 1000 dollars. It's kind of shame that I have invested a lot, but if my grandchildren can look through an album I did and learn a little about me, it's so worth it!
Now, regarding the question of why men do not "get" scrapbook … I'll give you 5 reasons.
1. You know the feeling you get when opens the door of your local scrapbook or craft store? It is a small, but unforgettable "race" for what is about to embark on an adventure shopping! Now, while her husband is in the car, listening to talk radio, waiting to emerge, all you're thinking is: "I wonder how much is being spending this time! "They see a lot of papers and stickers that are the most expensive. We see the last pattern label papers and embellishments. Also, how many you know men really like to shop? Need I say more?
2. This brings me to my next reason: Lingo notebook. I told my husband about how I like to wear certain ornaments on my pages. The look he gave me was probably similar to the look he gets when talking about the game or any car! Scrapbooking has its own language men just do not understand.
3. The crops are a big part of scrapbooking is beyond the comprehension of most men. Why would anyone want to meet a group of other women, cut their photos, write what happened in the pictures on paper and paste them in books that if you mess up, be subjected to torture yet unknown to mankind? Men have never really understood women need to be with other women, regardless of the excuse. Scrapbooking is just another of those excuses!
4. Now, remove the scrapbook crop take the confusion to a whole new level. Why why women who want to leave the comfort of your own bed to sleep on a mattress to cut more documents and more photos? And spend more money earned from the family drive? Men do not understand why we can not get much scrapbooking done at home with our 3 year olds constantly running with our scissors, our 5 years of age using the corridor of the tape on the cat and our teenagers assaulting our cache tag write "I love Parker" in their notebooks!
5. A match for the subject notebook? Are you kidding? Yes, even the parts of direct sales are a mystery. I guess the name really throws most outs. After all, what type of party, in the traditional sense, it leaves less money in your wallet? A party for free food, do not spend the money on their minds. They miss the point of chatting with friends, learn a new technique or playing with a new tool. Everything is just frivolity to them.
You know, now that I think, why spend $ 0.60 on a sheet of paper, a $ 12 device that is basically a glorified glue stick and a $ 30 album photos? You know the answer! We love it! Scrapbooking is an addictive hobby and men are allowed to join us, but better to learn the jargon and not sharing my row tape!
