Is it illegal to buy fake / replica Oakley sunglasses?
I heard that Oakley, Inc. has tried to websites selling imitations of their sunglasses high range. Patent infringement is to sell items with the name of Oakley. But is it illegal to buy them? And if so, how serious a violation is that?
Yes, however, many versions of this and other knock-offs of crops up in eBay auctions and other sales sites if not the "street". Although the burden falls mainly on the seller, in most cases, the buyer is very unlikely to be the accused. (depending on circumstances) Note that the "average man" is often also the victim of such sales. Ultimately it is the responsibility of both the buyer and seller to be informed.
