Tiger Woods: In Your Opinion, What’s More Possible?
Ok, for all you “Tiger Woods Fans”, which I am…Here’s a question I’d like to throw out and see how everyone answers it:
Seeing as The U.S. Open is the only Major Tiger has yet to win in back-to-back session, (PGA = 99′, 00′, Masters = 01′ 02′, British = 05′ & 06′), what’s more plausible:
Tiger Winning Back-To-Back US Opens…or Tiger getting to 19 Major Titles and breaking the record held by Jack?
Now, I know next year’s US Open is back at Bethpage , where Tiger did win the US Open back in 02′…but as the past often has a way of raising its evil rear, what chance does Tiger winning it all next year and collecting yet another ‘record’…being the only golfer to successfully defend his title in EVERY MAJOR, which even though I’ve not yet looked up if it’s been done yet, feel pretty confident it’s never been done before…. LOL!
The 19 majors, just cause the Open is always so d@mned difficult. There’s always something, whether it’s the conditions, a poor round, and/or someone else playing out of their minds, that makes it difficult to repeat. Look at the Masters… they’ve “Tiger-proofed” it since then (long rough, super-fast greens, miles of more course) and the US Open is the same way. Bethpage won’t be exactly as they saw it in ’02, thanks to the Tiger-proofing. It’s just incredibly hard, even for the World’s #1, to overcome all those things to win majors all the time, especially back-to-back. Not to say it can’t be done, just way more difficult.
I don’t know if this makes me less of a “Tiger Woods Fan”, but I’d like to think of him as a human being, not some Terminator-like machine with fanmade aspirations that are too lofty for anyone based in reality to reach. I have no problems if he passes Jack or not. I know that I’ve been fortunate enough to witness things in golf that I’ll never forget if it weren’t for either of those two. To me, no matter what happens, they’ll both be #1.
