Performance = Ideal Cycle Time / (Time of operation / total units produced)

Miller says, "Ideal Cycle Time is the optimal time or expect you can expect to succeed with their process. Some people call this the theoretical cycle also Time. This calculation can flip upside down if you know the Run rate instead of the ideal cycle time. (Run Rate is the reciprocal or inverse of cycle time.) "

Yield = (Total Pieces / Operating Time) / Ideal Run Rate

"Because the rate Ideal and Ideal Run Cycle time are theoretical values, and may be inaccurate, the performance is always a limit of 100%. This way if underestimate the ideal, which will have limited impact on OEE " said Miller.
